Description
Abstract: The author combines the study of literature and social psychology in the examination of Stephen Crane's first novel, Maggie: A Girl of the Streets. An in-depth discussion of research findings related to outcasts and social exclusion is initially given, and the findings are then applied to the lives of the Johnson family, the main characters in the novel. The paper illustrates a direct correlation between typical social outcasts and the characters, proving that the Johnsons exhibit the qualities of those who are commonly excluded from society. Keywords: Psychology, outcast, social exclusion
